Primer Post!

I know that some people can wear makeup without primer. If your skin is already cooperative, you can probably get away with it. If not, you might end up with patchy makeup, coverage that fades after four or five hours, or extremely visible pores. If you need more full coverage, thinning out your liquid foundation with a primer will help it to go on more smoothly, and also look less cakey.

For many people, and especially me, choosing the right primer and using it religiously is one of the most important steps of makeup application. There are lots of primers out there, but only a few that are truly worth the money. Today I wanted to highlight two in particular, Too Faced’s Primed & Poreless and Smashbox’s Photo Finish with Dermaxxyl.

The Too Faced primer surprised me, since I usually use exclusively silicon based gel primers. However, this primer really mattified my face, and gave my makeup a quality finish. It’s also relatively cheap, considering one ounce goes for $30. The Smashbox is my old standby, considering that it contains line minimizing and anti aging properties. Also, it’s a silicon gel primer, which often means that your makeup will have a dewy, natural, and flawless finish. It’s a little expensive, at $42/ounce, but it’s truly worth it. A little bit goes a long way with this one! More primer information to come soon, and until then, happy priming! 3 months ago / 1 notes
Beauty Product Update!
While in my hometown (Knoxville), I absolutely have to pick up my favorite and most used beauty product (that I ironically can’t buy in Miami), Bath Junkie’s Silky Allover Hair & Body Shampoo. This product is absolutely the best of its kind. For those of you who don’t know about Bath Junkie, it’s amazing because you can design your own fragrance and choose the color of your products. So if you’re an aspiring perfume designer like myself, it’s perfect! They have an entire range of products listed on Bathjunkie.com, but you have to buy them in store because you customize them yourself! You can choose your favorite product, but I personally am addicted to glycerin-based hair and body washes. They’re the best for people with sensitive and oily skin, as well as oily hair.
So without further ado, here are the fragrances that I chose for this visit:
Green: Green tea, cinnamon, and mandarin orange
Blue: Candy cane and buttercream
Violet: Peppermint & Lancôme Miracle Type
Pink: Oatmeal, milk, and honey, and honeysuckle
Orange: Pink Sugar Type, lemon balm, and top shelf vanilla
Yellow: Green apple and mandarin orange

Each bottle is six ounces, so this should last awhile. If you’re in Knoxville, be sure to check them out in Turkey Creek, or in the Shoppes at Hamilton Place in Chattanooga! 3 months ago / 2 notes

Spring Break is Almost Over

Hi Everyone!

I have decided to do lots of mini-updates. I usually go to the Borders in West Hills, but it’s always so crowded! The one in Turkey Creek is empty, since (I guess) most people out here are doing the myriad of other things that are available in TC. I am writing endlessly on a fiction piece. But that’s okay, because I have a window seat!

Drink of choice: large iced chai latte.

Today’s Products:

Smashbox Anti-Shine

Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer (Anti-Aging/Dermaxxyl version)

Sally Hansen Spray Airbrush Foundation (Light to Medium)

Clinique Superpowder Doubleface Makeup (01 Matte Ivory)

EOS Lipbalm in Lemon

— Matte face + springy colored shirt = ready to get to work! I will do a video on these products soon. Once I’m done writing, I am going to go find all the best makeup tumblr accounts to follow! Good day to you all!
